Chapter fifteen

“No, No, No, No, why the hell am I here again,” I screamed. standing at the edge of my bed, looking back down at my body. I swung around, sitting down on the side of my bed, placing my hand on my stomach, pushing it through, hoping somehow, I would fall back into my physical body. I pushed harder, and then laid down next to it, rolling into my body. But as I sat up, my body laid still.

Tor laughed. “You can try all you want, but it doesn’t work like that. Unfortunately, you’re stuck with us for the next couple of hours.” He winked and Billie laughed alongside him.

I turned to look at the clock. It was 2.21 a.m., the same time I remembered from last night. “What on earth do you possibly have to show me now? Didn’t you all ruin my life enough last night?”

“We didn’t ruin your life,” said Jonas. “We replayed what already is, it’s the past, it’s been and gone. How you take that into your future… well at least, that’s what we tried to do. It wasn’t meant to end the way that it did.”

I rolled my eyes, laying back down in my body. Maybe if I laid here still enough, I could wake up, and they would go away. I closed my eyes for what felt like a full minute, but as I opened them again, the three of them were still standing there, looking over my body with wide eyes, waiting for me.

“Urgh. How much longer do I have to have these dreams for?” I whined. I was ready to accept my craziness at this point. At least it was while I was sleeping, not in the waking hours of being watched by everyone else.

“Until you realise none of this is actually a dream,” Billie whispered in my ear. I could feel her breath on me.

“Why am I here again? If this isn’t all a dream… I thought yesterday you said this was illegal on your planet, that no one has done it before. That I’m not actually meant to be here seeing you, yet now it feels as though you’re just pulling me out of my body for the fun of it.”

Tor shrugged. “I’m not going to lie, you’re a great sleeper, an absolute dreamer. You do seem to land in the perfect brain state for us to just be able to pick you out of your body. After all these years, who would have thought that it really was that easy. You really are the king of theta.”

I’d tried my hardest not to fall asleep. I laid awake, thinking about the day, Stella and Kiira, the two of them together. I thought about them being friends. That was almost hilarious. I knew Kiira wouldn’t like Stella—she was too outspoken for her. Kiira couldn’t stand criticism or seeing things from any point of view other than her own.

“True, but it didn’t really sink in last night what we were trying to show you, did it? Today didn’t exactly go to plan.
